The new agreement, announced today, will push images from NASA’s Planetary Data System into Microsoft’s easier-to-navigate product. NASA’s system is great for researchers looking for complete datasets, but the FTP front-end could scare off non-nerds.
“Everyone in games in Seattle has been talking about this bill,” said Mark Long, president of Zombie Studios, a Seattle video-game design house that has produced several military-style action-adventure games, including the Spec Ops series, Rainbow Six: Covert Ops Essentials and the Eckes vs Sever movie tie-in game.

The Beatles, who were one of the last bands to embrace CDs, haven’t allowed any online service to sell their music. Solo songs from John Lennon, for instance, are not on iTunes but available on MSN Music and other sites.
The so-called dark web, for all its notoriety as a haven for criminals and drug dealers, is slowly starting to look more and more like a more privacy-preserving mirror of the web as a whole. Now it’s gained one more upstanding member: the non-profit news organization ProPublica.

That leaves the Free-Dmitry contingent wary of celebrating – and free to target the U.S. government, which may not back down to pressure from irate programmers as quickly as a firm that’s based in the heart of Silicon Valley.
On March 3 ransomware spread across the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus IT network. It locked caucus members out of their computers, forced a widespread system shutdown, and took the organization’s website (www.pasenate.com) down for days while technicians and law enforcement worked to control the situation. “There is currently no indication that the caucus system was targeted or that any data has been compromised,” Senate Democratic leader Jay Costa said in a statement on the day of the attack. The website is back up, but even more than a week later network function hasn’t been totally restored and the whole organization is moving onto loaner laptops from Microsoft so the organization’s regular devices can be disinfected. The Caucus will use network backups to restore almost all data, but Senators noted that they may lose files stored locally on individual computers like calendar data. The FBI will investigate the incident.

“Maybe if we take the time to look at our fellow freaks, we might not be so fast to generalize. I know a lot of Goths and they don’t worship Satan, in fact all most all of them are pacifists. I know a lot of furries that aren’t perverts. I even know gamers who bathe regularly. Do you want to be represented by the most outré of your group? That’s not who you believe you are, so why do you feel the need to make those assumptions of others?”
There’s nothing remotely wrong about showing a breastfeeding mother and child but I have to thank the internet firestorm to some extent since it made me aware of a series that sounds incredible and unique. It’s written by Brian K. Vaughn, who wrote the wonderful Runaways for Marvel Comics and Y: The Last Man for DC’s Vertigo Comics.
