Upgrade program? Apparently Microsoft wants to offer Xbox owners whose consoles give up the ghost a chance to upgrade to the Xbox 360. The site offers no solid details are offered on what this entails however, aside from saying that gamers “will be able to submit an exchange request for an upgrade to an Xbox 360 gaming console” if their Xbox dies.
After leaving Last.fm, I spent some time working on Playdar.org – a “music content resolver” designed to provide an abstraction layer that hides the boring details about where music comes from, so people who build apps and products that play music don’t have to worry about that. It should come from whichever sources make the most sense to the individual listener, according to their country, their preferences and whichever subscription service they are signed up with.
Once they’ve funded the site’s launch, Gallop and Davis say they’ll use web 2.0 to propagate it: A Twitter account (@IWRTW) will let people participate without ever going to the main site, SMS messages will assign tasks to friends and monitor action platforms, a Facebook widget will display members’ profile information and contain a fully-functional version of the main IWRTW site and mobile apps (for iPhone, Android and others) will encapsulate the site while adding a local component. If you have an extra 45 minutes to spare, you might shake your phone for a list of micro-actions in your immediate area.
Prolonged exposure to that much noise is bad for people: Musicians like Pete Townsend have had their hearing decimated by prolonged exposure.
As the narrative of an episode hinges on its musical selections, it also bears repeating that this is where Imagination Movers shines. With slick production and ample amounts of styles as disparate as ska, funk, country, jazz, and zydeco perched atop an upbeat rock ‘n’ roll base, the songs are easy on the ears. It’s got to be difficult to pen compelling lyrics about the days of the week and growing taller, but the Movers manage to keep things fun and lightly inspirational without ever devolving into classic kid’s music cheesiness.
The Boeing (NYSE:BA) 767-300, emblazoned with “Prime Air” on its fuselage, is to be operated by Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:AAWW). Aside from selling their software to other companies, Robinson also puts an emphasis on corporate principles and the workplace environment, which he says are key to running a great business.
Lie goes on to invent statistics to show intranets make up half of the page view on PCs. While the method for determining his numbers may not have been scientific, the point is being made solely to imply that Microsoft is only half-supporting standards. In 2005 Lie wrote a similar attack complaining about, among other things, Microsoft’s site not validating. This is picking nits, and it’s akin to schoolyard bullying. That’s right, Microsoft is getting bullied this time.
In 2010, the Obama-era FCC passed a more detailed net neutrality order that it hoped would stand up to legal scrutiny. But the agency was sued again, this time by Verizon, and in 2014 the same court ruled the agency didn’t have the authority to impose net neutrality regulations on services that weren’t considered common carriers under Title II of the Communications Act, like traditional telephone services.
But according to Dr. Ellen Herscher, an anthropologist with the Archaeological Institute of America, all these efforts may be too late.
