The actual language of the law singles out fantasy sports and says all winning outcomes in such games “reflect the relative knowledge and skill of the participants” and are “determined predominantly by accumulated statistical results of the performance of [athletes] in multiple real-world sporting.”

Students at Harvard, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Duke University, the University of California at Berkeley and at least 10 other campuses have joined the fight for public access to internal memos obtained from a Diebold server in March.
Filters for newer releases are available each week through a monthly subscription of $5, though getting them into the player is cumbersome. The filters are downloaded over the Internet and burned onto a CD for transfer to the DVD player. ClearPlay’s library currently contains filters for about 500 movies.
“Beyond that, we invite MP3tunes to make a substantive proposal both to redress past infringement of EMI works and to a ensure that there will be no future infringement of EMI works,” attorney Steven Fabrizio wrote MP3tunes’ counsel.
The idea of offering limited access to certain groups has been criticized both by privacy advocates like the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which argues that ICANN shouldn’t act as a gatekeeper deciding who should have access to Whois information, and by some outsiders who rely on access to Whois information.
It did work, and was user-friendly besides: GlovePIE’s graphical user interface allowed users to easily set the Wiimote’s inputs to mimic a keyboard, mouse or joystick. Within days, a video (see below) showing the PC game Half-Life 2 being played with the controller began to circulate on YouTube.

What better way to dissuade students from the benefits of hard work and study in the pursuit of knowledge than to have the teachers automate the grading of written assignments (“Computers Grade Students’ Writing,” May 8, 2005). Teachers should lead by example. If they find grading written assignments tedious and unchallenging perhaps they should teach something where they can get by with multiple choice tests, another abysmal scholastic practice.
Doherty said Real was “not out of step” with other companies that offer both a free and premium service. Many do the same thing.
