We’ve known about Assassin’s Creed 2 for awhile – a teaser website full of Da Vinci-esque illustrations was launched last week – but as of Thursday morning publisher Ubisoft made things official.
This provoked a lively – and needed – debate about the military’s newfound love of anthropology.
KNAC.com founder Rob Jones wouldn’t go back to FM even if he had the chance.
Three years after bringing back the KNAC brand, the website is No. 12 in the Arbitron ratings of Internet radio stations. With 600,000 unique feeds per month and over 20,000 people listening at any one time, it has more listeners than it ever had while on the airwaves in Los Angeles.
“As the world careens into chaos, stupidity and oblivion, join us for an unforgettable, Dayglo celebration of all the things that make life worth living!” Morrison enthused to Wired in an e-mail statement heavy on love for his favorite medium. “Expect maximum rock ‘n’ roll, chaos magic, mind-bending esoterica, sharp suits, surprise guests and once-in-a-lifetime performances, all wrapped up in the glory that is comics, comics and more comics.”
Being a Dallas native, it is this understanding of our basic American rights that brings me to this conclusion: The Dallas Morning News sucks.
There is also a Are You the 1701 Facebook page and Twitter account. As it is asking if we are the 1701, does this mean that somehow we will be part of the crew of the Enterprise? At this point, who knows? But, I am interested to find out.
When you boil everything down, though, you find that Chua, despite being “humbled by a thirteen-year-old” and admitting that Chinese parenting isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, still believes in her style of strict parenting. It’s a tremendous amount of work for her and for her kids, but I get the sense that if she did it all over again, she wouldn’t have changed much. She’s still proud of the way her kids have turned out, and she still attributes most of that to how they were raised.
Arrow has changed his view for this one: “One of the objectives of the remedies should be to attempt to restore, to whatever extent possible, the possibility of competition in the market where the illegal monopoly was maintained,” he writes in his affidavit. “The restrictions on Microsoft’s behavior in the (proposed settlement) fall well short of this objective.”
Vivendi’s MP3.com has opened offices in France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom to give a local flair to its music retail business. The move is an early step in the company’s strategy to sell music and movies through its Internet operations.
Check out the timeline and let us know if you agree with ICHEG’s selections. And, Dyson asks, what would you nominate for 2012?
The deceptive behaviors reported by boyd et al are arguably necessitated by the scarcity of online social options there are for tweens and younger kids. Over the past few years, that gap has begun to be filled by sites like Everloop, Togetherville, Sweety High, and Magic Belles which cater to tweens and younger community members. Back in 2009, My Secret Circle was creating private networks for girls using USB drives personally distributed to real-life friends. The lack of traction those efforts had with my family, however, is due to the absence on those sites of my kids’ existing offline friends.
This little trio of Tweets showed the challenges of moving back to Chicago and running for mayor beginning to come into focus for @MayorEmanuel: dealing with strategy sessions, being asked to appear at civic events, and hooking up utilities. All treated with equal amounts of disdain.
Both Nellie and Aki carry iPhones, for example, though the devices were given to them by Nellie’s sister, a nurse, who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Cruzes’ immaculate, doll-size family compound has a caged rooster in the front yard, Christian inspirational wall decals, and a strong Wi-Fi signal. In contrast to the screen-time panic among US parents, Nellie is OK with her only child spending time in his attic bedroom, gaming and browsing science pages on Facebook, rather than out on the street exposed to the pounding sun, the omnipresent filth, and the drug gangs on the corner.
Barry hopes to elicit support from far beyond Australia as he and others see this case as a benchmark in their fight against spam. While there have been cases of a spam-blocking service being sued by a direct marketing company, this case is a first, Malcolm said.
DaimlerChrysler believes that biodiesel could provide up to 20 percent of the fuel for diesel vehicles in Europe, according to prepared statements released Thursday by Herbert Kohler, head of vehicle body and drive systems at the company. Kohler said DaimlerChrysler is helping to create a new biodiesel fuel using biomass, including wood, straw and corn waste.
It’s not clear how, exactly, the Russians plan to deflect Apophis, a chunk of rock the size of two and a half soccer fields that was first discovered by astronomers in 2004. Anatoly Perminov, the space agency head, promised that there would be “no nuclear explosions” and that everything would be done “on the basis of the laws of physics.”
“Most of the tactile material that is available for blind people is very information dense,” Meyer tells Wired. “It’s always about information and not often about art.”
No wonder it’s an expensive sector to break into. “You just have to build a really serious and deep team to pull it off,” says Alex Barth, Mapbox’s vice president of business development. Here, open sourcers compete with established players like TomTom, Here, and Google, which all use their own fleets of sensor-studded vehicles to map and remap roads all over the world with precision.
Microsoft has already announced that users of Windows 7 — expected later this year or early next year — will be able to turn key programs like Internet Explorer off, making it easier to use other browsers.
James S (“Rants & Raves,” Aug. 19, 2004) mentioned that AOL told him that he must keep his AOL offer in order to get his free iPod – this is completely false on AOL’s part. There is no direct contract between AOL and Gratis internet, as you can see by the Wired News story (“Making Free IPods Pay Off,” Aug. 18, 2004). It goes through a third party called Adteractive, so unless the AOL rep says something about Adteractive he or she is outright lying. Which wouldn’t be the first time AOL reps have lied in order to stop someone from canceling. There are several lawsuits raging on AOL’s deceptive practices in trying to stop people from canceling.
And you can’t argue with success: Hyperion just signed a new contract with Konrath for the next three books in the Lt. “Jack” Daniels series.
He was not fool to lend his planes for 2014 elections for free. Modi made sure he got rewarded with rafael contract
“I can say this: for the PC version we are planning on uploading some additional PC-only challenge rooms via a free patch so you will get more bang for your buck.”
Gilsdorf: What does your book hope to accomplish that other books about the history of gaming (RPGs, simulation games) do not do?
