“We were with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and he was walking us through a fact that is interesting to know. More people watched the League of Legends World Championship than watched the BCS National Championship game. Can you believe that? And so, you started to see 100 million players playing one game and you think, there’s definitely a business here,” O’Neil told the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo.
At first, Eve’s community consisted of 15 early T1 customers into a WhatsApp group, brainstorming what kinds of products and features they might be interested. Pretty quickly, a remarkable thing happened: Everybody seemed to agree on stuff. They’d argue and debate, but by the end, this small group usually reached consensus. Encouraged by the experience, Karatsevidis opened it up, started a web forum anyone could join. He didn’t know who would join, where they’d come from, or how they’d act. “We had zero hope that it would become successful,” he says.
In a study that included 51,000 Americans, including people who did not own cell phones, the market research firms found that one in five who did own mobile phones – 18 percent of them – intended to upgrade their current mobile phones. The cell-phone subscribers wanted added features such as address books (80 percent), voice dialing (74 percent), short text messaging (SMS) (67 percent), an alarm clock (66 percent), downloadable ring tones (65 percent) and high-speed wireless Internet access (11 percent).
Update: Whoops! The game world is sixteen square miles, not six. I’m being called an idiot on the game’s official forums for this. Fixed. Although I don’t know how exactly this changes anything.

MSC Cruises also disclosed that its security staff was Israeli. Notes Ha’aretz:
Ball and socket joints make ModiBots poseable enough to stage epic tableaus, or with enough patience, stop-motion animations.
I should say here: The flight deck was not at all convincing as a simulation, but that made it no less mind-blowing as an experience. Everything was rendered in blocky, obviously computer-generated shapes, like a very crude cartoon or early AutoCAD rendering. Still—it felt real, like this was a space we could actually move through. Then, with the flick of an unseen switch, my host was able to transport us to a different environ—this time, we were underwater. A blocky computer-generated shark swam by. Again, the shark was very obviously not an actual shark, yet even now, years later, it’s hard to convey how crazy and exhilarating this all felt. Something I’d seen depicted in movies and TV as far-off fantasy was happening all around me. The objects seemed like objects. The shark seemed like a shark. I reached my hand out to touch it. It wasn’t there—yet it was. Which is when I knew: This is coming. This is no longer if, but when.
Then Apple introduced the iPad. Its touchscreen is just a bit smaller than those staple-bound pamphlets and looks a lot cooler. For comics fans, the new device was a lot like Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen: naked, glowing, and powerful beyond comprehension. Now the comics industry is slowly, agonizingly, belatedly backing into digital distribution, but with a deeply unusual goal in mind: to push digital customers toward brick-and-mortar stores for long enough to make sure the business can survive its forthcoming, unavoidable mutation.
Of course the snow globe ban raises one of the most often debated questions about the TSA’s security measures. Why, if you’re carrying more than three ounces of a supposedly hazardous liquid, is the container simply thrown into a large garbage can at the security checkpoint? There is no hazardous material disposal area and no bomb squad to take the liquids to a safe disposal site. What is dangerous in an airplane, apparently presents no danger to the same passengers on the ground.
“Freeman and McCreary are very involved as is my entire Science development team in the themes that are tackled each season. Revelations entire goal is to develop and produce compelling human stories. We start with a concept and decide if is there a story behind this, a human element that we can bring in order to make it accessible, compelling and provoking for our die-hard Science fans. We feel we have accomplished that and the results can be seen every week especially with our season finale of “What Do Aliens Look Like?” airing August 3″
At least once a week, my children and I will have to sit down, apologize to each other for becoming loud, and try to figure out how to handle whatever the conflict du jour might be. However, even before the post-mortem begins, while the stomping and ranting (and emphatic counter-wiping) is in full fury, I know that I do not want any harm to come to my children. I love them. What I want desperately at those moments is a bridge: I want us to listen to each other, respect each other, support each other. I am bonded to my children so that even as they jump on my last nerve, I am looking for that teachable moment, that mutual understanding–for all involved parties.
I remember thinking as a kid: “This is not what matters.” And we’re telling that to kids all the time. It is a great joy to be an adult. All the things you figured out make your life so less stressful. We’re allowed as adults to create a life that we like. Kids don’t have that freedom.
But AT&T wanted to add an additional toll, beyond what it already made from the internet. Shortly after that, a Verizon executive voiced agreement, hoping to end what he called tech companies’ “free lunch”. It turns out that around the same time, Comcast had begun secretly trialing services to block some of the web’s most popular applications that could pose a competitive threat to Comcast, such as BitTorrent.
Intel thinking big: Intel underlined its aggressive expansion plans in the communications market when the chip maker said it could generate sales worth tens of billions of dollars with chips for cell phones and handheld PCs.
