Now, criticisms are appearing in the peer-reviewed literature, like this one by Rosen and colleagues. The analysis is quite a helpful one in many ways, providing good background information on things like how cells can use arsenate (arsenolipids instead of phospholipids, for instance).

While you can submit as many designs as you want, you can only submit one every 30 minutes. No HTML allowed.

Timothy Matusheski, who specializes in litigation around False Claims Act violations, landed in the middle of a he said-he said fight Wednesday after WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange claimed that the U.S. military had reached out to WikiLeaks. Assange told the Associated Press that the Pentagon wanted to discuss the possibility of working with WikiLeaks to help redact sensitive information from the remaining 15,000 records from the Afghan war logs that WikiLeaks plans to publish soon.

Advertisers want your number: In case you aren’t bombarded with enough advertising, retail stores at the CambridgeSide Galleria shopping center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, want to send coupons to your cell phone.

Spokesman Jake Siewert confirmed that some workers have been surfing the Web for smut from whitehouse.gov computers, and as a result, technicians installed more stringent filtering software.

What’s more, the company is demanding that a federal judge order Google to surrender the IP addresses and other identifying information (.pdf) of those who have viewed or commented about the jailbreak video on a private YouTube page. The game maker is also demanding that Twitter provide the identities of a host of hackers who first unveiled a limited version of the hack in December.

But technology giveth, and technology taketh away. The same streaming video compression that turned YouTube into a juggernaut also robbed the adult industry of a huge chunk of revenue. Consumers who once bought or rented DVDs could now just go to so-called tube sites where they could watch high-def porn—usually pirated—to their hearts’ (or other body parts’) content.

In a 4-year-old case brought by The Recording Industry Association of America, U.S. District Judge Kimba M. Wood ruled that LimeWire’s users commit a “substantial amount of copyright infringement” (.pdf) and that the Lime Group, the company behind the application, “has not taken meaningful steps to mitigate infringement.”

“Myanmar is a country run by rumors, where people fill in the blanks,” says Derek Mitchell, who served as US Ambassador to Myanmar from 2012 to 2016.

‘The Gloom, Boom & Doom Report’ editor Marc Faber discussed why he had a bearish outlook for tech stocks, predicting a one trading day 10 percent drop for Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), in particular.

In Computational Creativity research, we study how to engineer software which can take on some of the creative responsibility in arts and science projects. There has been much progress towards the creative generation of artefacts of cultural value such as poems, music and paintings. Often, when produced by people, such artefacts embed a fictional idea invented by the creator. For instance, an artist might have the fictional idea: [What if there was a quiz show, where each week someone was shot dead?] and express this through a painting, poem or film. While such ideation is clearly central to creativity, with obvious applications to the creative industries, there have only been a few small, ad-hoc studies of how to automate fictional ideation. The time is therefore ripe to see whether we can derive, implement and test novel formalisms and processes which enable software to not only invent, but assess, explore and present such ideas.

But the RRS and similar groups that could emerge in the United States will have to fight an uphill battle to get a piece of secondary ticket sales.
