Is Vote-auction – which changed its name from Voteauction.com this week after the original domain name had been shut down by court order – actually facilitating the sale of tens of thousands of American presidential votes? Or is it all satire, with no such activity ever having taken place?
To Trueman, it’s entirely political: He says that since images on Yahoo’s discussion groups and Geocities area violate state and local pornography laws, prosecutors can send a message to the Internet industry by bringing criminal charges against a high-profile target.
“Now it’s official,” the band’s singer Ian McCulloch told Chartattack. “We are the coolest band in the universe.”
Strangely enough, I don’t think that’s going to happen. While the media can’t seem to stop themselves from repeatedly hyping the heated rhetoric of a hotly contested campaign, I think the tech bosses will soon learn that Trump is not the big bad boogeyman he’s been made out to be.
A girl wheels her barrow down the streets of Braavos, selling her clams and cockles. The thin man asks for more oysters, and Arya has the poison ready. But then she rolls right past him, her eyes locked on someone else: Ser Meryn Trant, stepping off a boat with Mace Tyrell. Trant, you may remember, is on Arya’s fabled hit list; he was the man who came to take her hostage after Ned was arrested, and was likely the killer of her Braavosi sword fighting teacher, Syrio Forel. (He also beat Sansa several times on Joffrey’s orders, though Arya has no way of knowing that. Regardless, he sucks.)
The authors of the children’s book Clock Without a Face buried twelve jewel-studded numbers at highway rest areas across the country, and then hid clues to the locations inside the pages of their book. ARGNet staff writer Michelle Senderhauf recounts her experience decoding one of the locations. Interested treasure seekers can still join the hunt for the final number.
Once you have your page layout selected, the fun really begins. Using some basic photo manipulation tools (think Adobe Photoshop Jr.), you can choose from dozens of backgrounds to set the scene. New York City, the Fantastic Four’s headquarters or even the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier are all available. You can also rotate and alter the size of the background to fit just about any panel layout you come up with.
Qwest’s (Q) new management team said its capital spending budget will be about 15 to 20 percent of annual revenue for 2002 and going forward, down from 47 percent in 2000 and 43 percent in 2001.
The selection process will begin during the first half of 2013. Mars One experts and viewers of a “global, televised program” – think reality TV where the prize could be a trip to a dry, dusty world – will choose from among the applications. Those ultimately selected will be assembled into teams of four. At least six teams are supposed to be ready to launch in September 2022. But only one team will make the first trip to the Red Planet, and that team will be decided democratically.
The growth of Sync apps is in the early, fragile stages. None of the software is even at the so-called “beta” stage of development, where wider testing can begin. And all of the apps could be scuttled by one false move at BitTorrent Inc., the file-sharing company that developed Sync and controls the platform interfaces on which Sync developers build. But the emerging Sync ecosystem offers an intriguing example of how corporate prerogatives can help promote, rather than undermine, pro-privacy practices like encryption and decentralization. It also offers evidence that some developers want to avoid or escape the Apple and Google app stores, which tend to reward apps with invasive ads and tricks to sell digital goods within the apps. If one or two Sync apps take off, it could bolster the entire business of selling privacy-friendly software.
Apple is particularly sensitive to claims of neglect. The company surpasses EICC standards and has an updated code of conduct and a 100-page list of work requirements for suppliers deep into the supply chain. The Apple Supplier Environment, Health, and Safety Academy, an 18-month program with over 150 hours of training, teaches managers proper risk management and safety standards. And the company performed 633 audits at facilities worldwide in 2014, nearly three times as many as in 2011.
They were certainly evident the last two days as a dozen or more NFL players left the field in near-record heat in some parts of the country.
“The FTC has basically gone around collecting these consent decrees from a ton of companies,” says William McGeveran, a professor at University of Minnesota Law School. “Because they run for 20 years, even the ones from the early Bush administration are still enforced. This increases the FTC’s future leverage over Uber, and that’s worth something.”
The fuel cell, which NEC (NIPNY) will test-market within two years, would let notebooks operate for 40 consecutive hours, or around 10 times the life of regular lithium-ion batteries, a company spokesman said. NEC will test a notebook computer having a built-in fuel-cell battery with a life of five hours.
(It should be noted that for devices like the Cheetahs to make a difference of Olympic proportions, they have to be worn by double-amputees. People who have lost only one leg face significant challenges getting their biological and prosthetic limbs to sync with elite-athlete perfection with regard to things like the distribution of weight and energy.)
“(Apple’s store) is an evolution, not a revolution,” Graves said. “We don’t see it as super-competitive to what we have.”
According to the WGA, which has about 12,000 members, median earnings for writers dropped between the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons, and more scribes are finding it difficult to make a living under current deals.
Big Fish Games: This is a tough one due to geographical limitations. If there are simply no game companies nearby, you could consider web development work. This combines planning and technical skills with art and design sensibilities. You could also create several smaller games or concept proofs to show that you have the creativity and the drive to create fun experiences. Creating games in Flash is another way to demonstrate creativity and technical prowess.
The Kaspersky Lab, a security solutions firm, had estimated that up to 5 percent of computers affected globally could be in India. The country is considered vulnerable thanks to a large number of computers running on older Microsoft operating systems.
You control the Botvac remotely by way of the Neato app. It’s quite well-designed and easy to use, actually — you can start your bot’s cleaning, pause it, tell it what kind of cleaning to do, and tell it to return to the dock without actually moving yourself. The bot will also send you alerts if there are problems, so you don’t look up after a couple of hours and wonder why everything went so quiet.
The conservative news site WorldNetDaily reported on Wednesday that an unidentified consultant found “massive” porn-traffic passing through the firewall last year.

The Net Democracy Party hasn’t won any seats yet, but it promises that if it does, it will use Democracy OS to enable any local registered voter to tell party representatives how to vote. Mancini says the party representatives will always vote the way constituents tell them to vote through the software.
